I was wondering if anyone is taking Lovenox and having side affects? I have been taking the injections for almost 2 months and for the past 2 weeks I have been feeling really nauseous :-\

chynnadoll- I would assume you are pregnant since you are on lovenox? I take 80mg twice a day and the biggest side affect is bruising, I looked up side affects and it does say nausea can occur, but since you have been on it for 2 months I wouldnt' say it was from the lovenox, but I would still talk to your doctor.

Chynnadoll - nausea is a rare side effect of heparin and would happen the first few days that you used and not after all this time. Call your doc and let them know. I hope its a BFP.

I was diagnosed with a Protein S deficiency at 34 weeks of pregnancy. I am currently on Lovenox 100mg once a day. They want me at 140mg but they are trying to limit the times I have to give myself a shot. I have had some serious bruising, but it is going ok. I started Lovenox after being on Heparin and having had a weird side effect. Major bruising, rashy reddness, and a lot of pain in the area. I started taking Heparin at 34 weeks pregnant, and was switched to Lovenox after three shots. I am now 38 weeks pregnant and trying to figure out how I am going to get an Epidural. My Hematologist (after speaking to the Head of Anesthesiology at a hospital) just told me today that I need to be off of Lovenox for two weeks and on Heparin before any Anesthesiologist will consider giving me an Epidural. I have been reading on here that I will be ok with an Epidural after being off of Lovenox 24-48 hours. My OBGYN also told me that I will be ok after 24 hours. He spoke with an Anesthesiologist. I am very confused. I have less than two weeks till delivery and my Hematologist is going to try me back on Heparin but with a more purified dose and then we will see if an Epidural will be ok to have.

;) i am currently 31 weeks pregnant. This is my 8th pregnancy. I have had 5 miscarriges. I was diagnosed with a genetic clotting disorder called a factor V Lieden disorder. I inherited this in bothof my genes from my mother and my father. I was put on cumidin after the fifth miscarriage. I am now 39 and pregnant with a healthy fetus in the 31st week. I was on heparin for a while but when i got a kidney stone in may at 24 weeks the OB's switched me to Lovenox. I inject it myself 120/mg twice daily. It don't notice that i have and side effect from the injection other than bruising at the injection sights. It looks like I have been battered! The doctor watches us very closely. I have an appt every 2 weeks now and ultrasounds every 4 weeks. She is a bt on the small side but all seems right in the womb. i too am allergic to shell fish. I have had no reaction to this drug as of yet and i have been on it for about 10 weeks.

I started on Lovenox in August 96 and stopped in OCT99. Had another PE and restarted Lovenox in 2002 and still taking 100mg twice a day. I use vials of 300mg and draw it into 31guage Insulin Syringes 5/16" in length. The prefilled needles are too large for long term and the BD syringes are much smaller and cause lesspain.

Hi,

Does anyone know the success rate for using Lovenox? My DR just started me on this last week. I'm somewhere b/w 5-6 weeks p/g. May have started the Lovenox too late though since I started bleeding this week. Dr says the p/g is still going, but I have my doubts....He just didn't sound all that positive that this one would make it, even said next time we'll start Lovenox sooner. I'm upset that I didn't have my blood checked sooner, although was never asked to.

Thanks!

Hi Terry,

Good information. Thanks for your posting. I am wondering how much it costs you a month for the Lovenox? I know it is so much more expensive than Heparin, but supposed to be better in the long run for other reasons.

Thanks!

Lovenox hasn't been a problem for me and I have had to have a varience in my dose. 30mg once a day, 30mg twice a day and then 40mg once to 40mg twice and now 60mg once a day. Although I am pregnant and have been nauseous for most of my pregnancy. I am at 30 weeks tomorrow. I hope it works for you. It may be the time of day you take it and my Dr. told me to lay down to give myself the shot. It is awkward at first but you get the hang of it. GOOOOODD Luck.[/quote]

Lesley:

I have insurance where they have me pay a co-pay. it is about $3500 a month. You can buy it in Canada for what I pay the copay.

I have been taking Lovenox 2 times a day for 6 years now (since feb 2002). I have protein S def. and got a DVT and PE after my second son. That's when I was started on Lovenox. I had 2 childeren since then, and they are fine and healthy. My son will be 4 next week and my daughter is 18 months. While pregnant my doses were increased because of the increased risk of DVT's. I am currently on 120 twice a day. I never had any side effects accept for the bruising. Hope everything goes well for you.
