Which medical articles to use?

Hi
I recently went to a hematologist about immune issues on early pregnancy loss. All my tests came back ok, in a non pregnancy state.
I referred him to the professional articles discussed in this forum on immune issues.

The doctors response to me, is he does not use any medical journal articles unless they are printed in the New England Journal of Medicine. Can you help me understand this article and which is better to use for fertility treatment. Which is the most reliable publications to use, bc I want to be prepared for my next doctors appt with the appropriate literature and do not want to be dissed ever again.
thanks for any insight you can share.
Brenda

It is true that different journals are of different quality in terms of the articles they publish. However, restricting oneself to a single general medical journal such as NEJM (albeit high quality) will result in limited knowledge in periferal fields. It is unfair to expect a hematologist to up on all the recent literature regarding early pregnancy loss, but it would be reasonable to expect that they keep an open mind about such matters. There are plenty of reputable journals in the field of reproductive medicine and obstetrics/gynecology. I think you may be better off consulting with a Reproductive Endocrinologist about immune issues in relation to early pregnancy.
