Dear Dr Smith , Can you please advise me . I am 39 yrs old and have PCOS I am a 39 yr old woman who has had 4 cycles of IVFover 18 mths without overall sucess Cycle 1 - Short protocol - 15 eggs - 2 grade 2 embryos replaced - Negative Preg test Cycle 2 - Short protocol - 17 eggs - 2 grade 2 embryos replaced - Negative Preg Test Cycle 3 - Long protocol with down regulation - 10 eggs collected on day 10 - 2 grade 1 embryos replaced ( 3 frozen - only cylce that produced embryos suitable for freezing )- Positive Preg test - Twin Pregnancy confirmed by USS at 6 weeks - Spontaneous miscarriage at 7 weeks Cycle 4 - Long protocol with down regulation - very slow ovarian response resulting in a day 16 egg collection - 13 eggs - 2 grade 2 embryos replaced - Negative Pregnancy test Since starting IVF I have no peroids of my own and each day 1 bleed is induced by a 7-10 day course of norethisterone .My FSH was last checked 18 mths ago and was 6.6 then. I am not overweight ,have a reasonable diet but a busy job ( Intensive Care doctor) My questions are as follows -Should I try a 5th cycle using my own eggs and what would the chance be of a sucessful outcome? - Why was cycle 3 so different to the rest and could it be recreated ? - Was the longer stims the factor that resulted in poor embryos in cylce 4 and did stims take longer because I am getting old? - Would you advise me to give up on my own eggs? - What would be my chances of a sucessful pregnancy using donor eggs ? Thanks so much - I have cried all day today - only found out about the neg cycle 4 result Sorry for any mispellings Eliza
