Potential botched embryo transfer technique?

Dr. Smith,

I am concerned the attending RE may have harmed my embryos during the Transfer, thereby compromising my pregnancy odds. This is my 2nd IVF cycle, and the experience was alarmingly different than the first cycle transfer.

IVF Cycle 1: 3-day transfer of 2 embryos: 8BF and 6AF. Transfer observed by all in the room on U/S display. Uneventful.

IVF Cycle 2: 5-day transfer of 2 embryos: EBBB (early blast, BB) and Morula (the 2 best candidates I had). The embryos, or the air bubbles demarcating the embryos, would not exit the catheter. The Embryologist had to leave the room twice to get more fluid to backfill the catheter and help dislodge the contents. For ~ 10 long min, we watched the u/s display and the RE's attempts at dislodging the embryos (air bubbles). At one point I thought we would have to abandon the whole transfer. I felt external pinching and discomfort as he struggled to clear the catheter, that I didnt experience during previous transfer.

As I only have one reference experience, is it common for embryos to be stubborn in leaving the catheter? Should I be realistic about potential damage to the embryos during this episode?

Appreciate your feedback. Gigi
