Immune testing- I need help.

I went today for my 4th Beta (to be sure my levels are dropping) and for a consult with me RE on our next steps (since we have the 3 frozen). I explained to her that if the levels are dropping as they should, I would like to do immune testing. She totally shot down my suggestion stating that Dr. Beer has no leg to stand on at this point. Why is this so controversal? This will be my 2nd biochemical pregnancy- why not get down to the facts??

She did agree to an RPL Panel though. I know that they do test for some autoimmune like APA, ANA, ACA & ATA. She is also testing TSH with reflex T4 after explaining that both my dad and sister have thyriod issues. But what about testing for NK cells?

Opinions are like noses - everybody has one. Testing for NK cells is driven by opinion, not fact-based medicine and that's because it is a relatively new concept to most RE's (although its been around for several years). There are valid argumets on both sides of this issue. My personal opinion is that the NK story has merit as we have been able to help many women with recurrent miscarriage by treatment with IVIg. It is more accepted than your doc thinks. There is a recent acute shortage of IVIg in the US. Wonder why... Many RE's are keeping there treament with IVIg under wraps for fear of being the target of more outspoken critics such as your RE. Unfortunate, but true. If you decide testing for NK cells is important to you, seek out another RE willing to test you. If there is a problem with the NK cells (abnormal number of activation), stick with the second doc. If there is no problem, you could return to the first doc, if your are more comfortable with her.
