embryo transfer

I just had a day 3 transfer about 6 days ago. On day four I started to spot. The next day I was full flow. I had gotten my period. I called my clinic and they had no idea why this had happend. I was very uncomforting that they had no answers for me. Do you know or have an idea as to why I would have gotten my period when the meds were supposed to get that from happeing? I read some info on the site and they said after transfer you should be lay still in the office for 1 to 2 hours. My doctor had me in there for only 20 min. What do you think about that? One more question with FET what kind of meds are involed. My nursetold me all meds are IM and from reading the info on this site it sounded like you dont need meds for that or if you do just clomid? I am almost sure because of getting my period that the 2 embryos transfer did not implant, so we are looking into using my frozen embryos.

Thank you for your time and look forward to hearing from you soon.

Most of your questions are of a medical nature and beyond my area of expertise. Please post on Dr Jacob's Infertility 101 Message board. He can better advise you.

I will take a stab at the "rest after transfer" question. No one can say for sure what rest period (if any) is required after embryo transfer. Different doctors require different periods of rest. Usually depends on how busy the clinic is. Large, busy clinics get you up right away, small clinics usually allow you to rest for an hour or two after the transfer. It probably doesn't matter since implantation is not going to happen for another couple of days following a Day 3 transfer anyway, but the rest period makes the patient fell better. Patients are often afraid that the embryos will "fall out" when they stand up after transfer. That doesn't happen.
