can my weight have anything to do with the elevated fsh. my estradiol was elevated I think at the same time my fsh was elevated. is estradiol estrogen and doesnt your estrogen increase in overwieght wemon due to the abundance of fat cells producing estrogen. is there a corralation btween elevated estradiol making your fsh increase. should I have a series of fsh levels drawn to see if my fhs was truly elevated. or are there any other tests that are definitive why didnt someone tell me high fsh levels are strongly suggestive of low ovarian reserve and my success rate with ivf would be extremely poor! very sad!

Wieght does not effect FSH or estrogen levels in the blood. Elevated estrogen suppresses FSH secretion, so when estrogen and FSH are both elevated on Day 2-3 of your cycle, it is a sign that your FSH actually even higher when your estrogen level is normal. Elevated estrogen and FSH on Day 2-3 of your cycle is indicative of a decreasing ovarian reserve (fewer follicles are developing on each cycle). Having series of FSH levels drawn will not change anything. Do not "chase" a lower FSH level. Once you have had an elevated FSH, it may bounce around a little, but it still is telling of a decreasing ovarian reserve.
