Attrition & odds

Hello, I'm 3 days post transfer of two 8-cell grade 1 embryos. The MD estimated about a 75% chance of success - is this realistic? It sounds a little too optimistic to me. (I am 36 with secondary [male factor] infertility & one prior healthy term pregnancy).
Also, this was my first IVF cycle and the egg/embryo stats were as follows:
-18 eggs retrieved
-15 mature/viable
-11 fertilized normally
-2 were 8 cell grade 1 (transferred)
-4 were slightly lower grade (frozen)
-5 continued in culture but did not reach blastocyst stage.
So overall we ended up with 6 embryos from 18 eggs. Is this the expected rate of attrition?
Thanks!

I think your doctor is being a leeetle bit over optimistic. I'd guestimate around a 40-50% chance of a term pregnancy from the transfer of two 8-cell embryos of good grade at your age. The attrition you observed looks about right. It always seems to surprise patients that so many of the embryos don't make it over the 8-cell hump, but that's the way it is.

Best of luck.
