hi i'm sorry to intrude... but i was wondering if you have had a d&c... if you have can you please let me know what the procedure was like... pain wise & everything... |

Yes, I had to have a d&c. It wasn't very painful at all (physically anyways). I went to the hospital at 8am and left at about 1. They put you on an IV for fluids, and then wisk you away to the OR.. theres not much else I remember about that part because of anesthesia. I woke up in recovery, and when I stopped crying came around I got to go back to the room where my fiance' and mother were. There was heavy cramping for about an hour, and then it got a lot lighter. Every person reacts and heals differently though.. I would definately reccomend a d&c over waiting for nature to take it's course, I think the wait would have killed me. Thats just my opinion though. Good luck with everything... |

I too had a m/c at 8wks March 31.....I was at the doctors getting my first prenatal check up when saw brown spotting....My Dr. put me on bed rest for 72 hours but the bleeding got progressively worse until I felt like I was going into labor again.....( I have an 16 month old healthy boy) It was truly ecruciating...I passed huge clots which I was too horrified to save.....I went back to the doctor and after the ultra sound she confirmed the miscarriage and gave me antibiotics and another medication to expell whatever was left in the uterus.....after the spotting stopped my body felt like nothing had happened.....I was even able to resume having sex with my husband perfectly fine....I'm 28 yrs old and very healthy and anxious to try again even before my first cycle......well let me say I'm not trying to prevent getting pregnant....it's so important though to have the support of family and friends and others who have experienced the same such a loss......My heart goes out to all of you have had a m/c and I hope that those who don't never does....... |

Yes, it is very important to have support from your friends and family... I know that. The day I found out my baby was no longer alive my sister called to tell me that I should consider myself lucky ( I am 18, and it was unexpected) Losing my baby definately was not luck.. I'd give anything to be holding that little angel in October..I was so angry I did not speak to her for days. She is 21 and has 3 boys... that I love more than anything. It hurt me to hear her say that. My mother on the otherhand was completely supportive, and even supports me in trying to conceive again. I am taking all precautions to make sure my next pregnancy has a better chance... Good luck to everyone! |

Well I'm not pregnant :(.......Has anyone had a period right after the miscarrige.......I just started bleeding again only 3 wks after the actual misacrriage (not the day I actually started bleeding). My doctor said it could be my period and I had to get a blood test done to check my hormone levels.......this is so confusing......I read that you can't count any bleeding after a m/c as a period unless you've gone 20 actual days without bleeding. I know this is off the subject but I'm confused ???.....any advise |

I would suggest that you do get blood tests (maybe the doc wants to see if you've had another m/c).. otherwise i'd wait and see how long the bleeding lasts.. if its like a normal period for you.. than thats probably what it is.. Maybe this is the beginning of a new cycle for you! Good luck! Be sure to let us know how things go! You're in my prayers. |

when the hcg drops to 0, you will bleed. even if they do a d&c, your hcg is still elevated and takes a week - 10 days to drop to 0 sometimes. once it drops to 0, you will bleed a little bit and that is the beginning of a new cycle for you (usually). for example. i had a d&c b/c the baby stopped growing. about 10 days later, i bled a little (not full-blown AF, but heavier than spotting). exactly 28 days later, i started my period. I'm not sure the dates of your procedures, if any, but hopefully this will give you an idea. |

I got my results from my blood test today.....My hcg levels are back down....So my doctor told me to count that bleeding as a regular period......It was more heavier than my usual period but that is to be expected.....The good news ;D is that now I can start trying again and I have a solid day to go by as my lmp. |
