this may be the height of self-indulgent pride, but i wrote this poem last year and i came across it today. i figured you guys might understand. if anyone else has any poetry to share, please do so. well, without further ado, here's the poem:
i search for you my child, my child yet to be in that long, cold darkness up ahead of me that we call: "the future"
i know not when you will come or how you will be but i know that i long for you and pray for you to come to me
i hope you come soon that we meet earlier rather than later
that our life together may start closer to now that my life will be more filled with you-- and your little fingers and toes and giggles and smiles . . . and laughter, and tears, and memories things that i may store up and ponder in my heart--
than lived without you
i know not if you will come at all and that makes me sad and scared and lonely
waiting for you
i trust that God knows best and that if we are not meant to be, if you will not come to me physically, that i may find you in those around me and love you just the same
