I think had they let me put in three the other times, we would have had a better chance. This time we only had three that fertilized normally and I asked that they put all three in rather than save one to freeze and have it not make it through the thaw.

I am so thankful that two out of the 3 took!!! :)

VW - I am so happy for you that 2 took! Maybe we will have a 2 out of 3 as well...I will be sure to pop in here and tell you all!
I cant wait to see the ultrasound. 14 more days. I swear even when they were follicles, I could see faces in there! :)
They gave us pictures of the three embryos in the dish before the transfer and I could imagine their little faces! I said the one that looked more like a flower was the baby girl and the two other blobbed embryos were messy little boys!
Silly I know, ;Dbut I think of them as my little boogars already! It helps me bond and connect with them! ::)

I just get so excited getting on here reading success stories, but it keeps me grounded when I read that it aint over until the fat lady sings! I have to accept that too!

I have not decided yet on amnio. I will make that decision after tomorrow. My last u/s was April 10.

My next OB appt is May 9. I will have an u/s tomorrow when I see the genetic counselor.

jenfrancis - so your insurance doesn't cover IVF. In Massachusetts. IVF is covered with insurance. All I paid for were the meds. I am glad your cycle worked the second time. I found out I was having a girl at 18 weeks.

vw79girl - I would have wanted to put 3 in but hubby would never allow me. He didn't even want the possibility of twins never mind twins.

I am 37. I turned 37 in March, and of course the age of 35 is the magical number. I cannot wait until the 4-D u/s, but it worries me too! The m/s has come back with a full force, I am miserable all day long again. I'm hoping it will ease off some now that I am approaching the 12 week mark.

When I asked doc about the weight gain, he said don't panic, some of if could be from bloating and retention caused by the progesterone. If I've gained as much again at next appt, I'm sure they will say something........not that I wouldn't be thinking it myself. I gained 70 lbs with my dd and really don't want to gain that much again.

No the insurance did not cover it. :( With meds after 2 cycles (paid for 4 total) we have spent almost 29 grand.

I dont care, tho! I am happy. You have people who get pregnant for free and dont appreciate it! I want my baby (or babies) and I will definitely not take this whole glorious act of pregnancy for granted at all!

With my daughter (who i conceived naturally at age 18) I gained 60 lbs! That was not fun! But I worked at MCd's while in high school and ate lots of chicken nuggets with Big Mac sauce!

I eat every thing and anything lately, no cravings this early, but I refuse to be hungry. If my doc puts me on a calorie diet I will reluctantly follow it, but only for the health of my baby.

I would love to get to see my little one(s) up close and personal! I hope I have a 3-D or 4-D! How neat!

Sorry about the m/s, I bet you have stock in Saltines! Hope that does go away some soon!

I dont want to rush any thing with my pregnancy, I am thrilled, but it seems with every milestone, you cant wait till the next! I am so excited to get my second beta and then the initial u/s, then find out sex, etc! I will try not to rush through this all!

Ronda, I am also 37 :) SO sorry to hear about the m/s coming back. Can you believe that you and Reshma and I are all almost 12 weeks? I just want to get to Sunday and I will take a deep breath.
I am curious to see how much I have gained already when they weigh me on Thurs. The constant eating feels like it is all going right to my belly and my boobs which I guess is a good thing. I put on a pair of pants today that used to practically fall off and I find myself wearing them very low. They are snug and won't fit much longer. I want to get some of those belly bands so I can still wear some of my jeans. Dh took my weekly belly shot picture last night and I am really starting to look pregnant. :)

Debbie, I will be interested to find out how your appt. goes tomorrow. Dh and I are not doing the amnio but I guess we are doing that one ultrasound test (the nucal translucency). I wish I were having another ultrasound on Thurs. I am awful, I want one like every week.

Jen, I have been carrying around the picture of our 3 embryos now for the past 8 weeks in my date book. We always look at them and try to figure out which two took. I remember when the RE was putting them in...she kept commenting on how good they looked. Inside I was like..."sure, that's what you said the past 3 times before". Little did I know.


Well girls... I am going to Kohl's today after school to purchase some granny panties. My little ones aren't cutting it anymore lol.

Hey Debbie- How are you feeling? My friend did the genetic counseling when she was pg. They look at both sides of the family (you and dh) and make a whole family tree. Then they tell you what you are at risk for. My RE advised us to get the genetic counseling prior to IVF but we decided not to. I don't want to be dettered from trying, but I will probably go for all the testing if they offer it. I want a baby so badly, but I do not think dh or myself could handle a baby that may need to be taken care of for life. So I would definitely want to know if something was wrong. If you know you wouldn't do anything no matter what the results show, then you may not want an amnio, unless you would just want to be prepared. It's a very personal choice. What is your deciding factor for amnio or not?

I cannot wait to be 12 weeks. It is so cool to have all of you for support and really neat that the 3 of us are right there together.

I didn't think I had gained that much, I haven't weighed myself since I got pg......seems like is all in my belly and boobs!. The sisters are getting huge and very perky! too bad they will not go back to regular size and still be perky! My pants still fit everywhere but in my belly. some of the other people that work in the building are starting to ask my co-workers if I am pg. Guess they are afraid to ask me, just thinking maybe I'm getting fat!.

yeah, all the weight gain is not fun. I lost all but 5 lbs of my weight gain with my dd and swore I would not gain that much weight again.....and here I am, well on my way. I just get so pukey when my stomach is empty, I cannot help but eat. I like your ticker!!!

JenFrancis - You have the greatest attitude, I hope you get your twins!!!! If insurance didn't cover IVF, we could have NEVER afforded it.

Ronda - I have had way too much weight gain already with this pregnancy. In my 4th month I gained 7 - and this month I am up there as well... argh!

Julie, You are so lucky that insurance covered your IVF. We did the shared risk program through Integramed and ultimately we were supposed to have a total of 6 attempts. 3 fresh and 3 frozen if the fresh cycles provide any embryos to freeze. We paid a total of $16,800. Paid the $6,800 in cash and took out a loan for the other 10 and it is like a credit card payment each month. Lol by the time we pay it off, our little buggers will be almost 5 years old. :) If things didn't work out, we would have been refunded 70% of our money. I will totally take the twins instead of the money. :)

You were very lucky insurance paid for your IVF. my dh and I would have never been able to afford it if I wouldn't have gotten into a IVF study that my RE was in charge of. My insurance had a life time max of $10,000 including meds and we used that up with all the IUI's that didn't work. The study was still not free, but with the ICSI and the cyro it was $3900 out of pocket (well, on a credit card that we are still trying to pay off). However, it was well worth it!

Yeah I think CT and MA insurance pay for IVF... as many cycles as we want. I just have to re-apply every 2 cycles. My insurance paid for all of my IUI's. All I paid was a co-pay for meds.

Cost -
Since we had no clue what IVF was all about, we thought why should this not work on the first try. I thought, they monitor you almost daily, they should just tell me how much medicine to take and take my eggs, put his sperm in the dish and there you have it, so we paid for one cycle, no guarantee or refund, that was $11700 after meds. Well, it failed since I hyperstimulated near the end.
So, we decided to pay for three cycles in advance, still no guarantee, that was $15,700 and since I am pregnant right now, we only had one cycle of meds, so total probably have spent $29,000.

I cant wait till my follow up blood test Friday tho, to confirm that I am pregnant, this is so worth any cost to me!

My IUI's were $200 each which wasn't too bad. We did 4. Luckily my insurance paid for all of my ultrasounds, bloodwork and my meds. That was huge.

I really feel pregnant today. My stomach is absolutely starting to protrude. I got some cute tops from Kohl's yesterday along with my Granny Panties. I am glad the style now is those baby doll tops because there are tons to choose from.
