Lisa I am so sorry you have so much to worry about. I know just how you feel. I used to feel like every day was a week with all the ups and downs of the day. Try not to worry and just enjoy your boys because worry will not change anything and most of the time the things you are worrying about will not be issues at all. Relax and enjoy those little ones - it won't be long before they are home.

OMG Lisa- I am so sorry you have to worry about that on top of everything else. Did they mention which syndrome they were thinking? When are they going to do the bloodtest and when will you have the results? I hope everything turns out just fine and they worried you for no reason.

Jamie- I am not so much concerned with the actual beta number just that it doubles by tomorrow. I have been spotting for 9days now and bleeding on an off so that is why I am so worried. I would still be concerned about m/c even if I wasn't spotting since I am high risk for m/c and have lost 3 pg's that way. However I would feel somewhat better if I wasn't spotting now. It is just so frustrating to wonder if this will work out or not. My last one I made it 11 weeks with no spotting or bleeding and the heart just stopped beating, so you just never know.

Hi girls,

Just got back from doc's ofc. He checked me and I am 2 cm dilated and cervix is soft. But that means it could be tonight or it could be 2 weeks from now. I hate the not knowing. He gave me a scrip for Ambien to help me sleep. This sleeping 20 minutes at a time is not cutting it. I am still working and am going to try and work as long as I can so I can have more time home with the baby.

How awful. I hope everything works out just fine and they just have to tell the "just in case" stuff. I hope they can do the testing soon.

Lisa- Sorry they have you worrying more! Dr's need to give you the worse case senerio sometimes though to cover themselves- You are all in my thoughts and prayers!

lyly- keeping my fingers crossed for you still! Your numbers sound good. I spotted for several weeks after my transfer too and I have a healthy girl now :)

I am sorry to hear all that you are going through. I know it is hard but hey you have to have faith in your lil one and in God he is protecting your lil one all the way. I am sure everything is ok. Doctors always worries us parents and it ends up being nothing. Take it in the positive side and have faith. I am sure your lil one is ok.
Lets us know what they tell you girl. You are not along.
I will be praying for Lil Paul.

OMG you are 2cm dilated that means like anytime girl that is great seems like you will have a fast labor if you are dilating and nothing yet once you notice you will have the baby in your arms. Are you having it normal? Why doesn't the doctor induced you? It is ok to do that at the weeks you have.
You are still working, wow that is to admire girl.

Lili~ I got your card today. The boys look so big. They sure are growing fast. And their costumes were precious!!

Lisa~ Sorry to hear about Paul. But I bet it will turn out to be nothing. In the NICU they inform you of every little detail and always present the worst case senerio. They did the same thing to my little girl. They told me she had severe deformities and some genetic disorders and sent off blood work. It took a week to get back and the whole week I was worried sick only to find out it was nothing more than molding or being smushed bc she had no fluid. How many ounces is considered a "full" feeding? We had to do 8 feedings of 2 oz. It seemed to take forever for that to happen. I am praying that the boys will get that eating down and get home to you!

Lyly~ I can't wait to hear your beta tomorrow. I will be praying for more than double numbers.......

I am sorry you have so much to deal with. I understand your fear of down syndrome. I am not sure if I added my down syndrome scare to my birth story - but Kaitlyn's ears aren't 100% normal. They are a little lower than normal which is a sign of downs. When the doctor spoke to me about Kaitlyn's oxygen defficiency he continued asking questions about if downs runs in my family. I picked up on it that there was concern that Kaitlyn had downs. I cried my eyes out that evening and Greg wouldn't even discuss it as he was in denial it could happen to us. The next morning I spoke to the doc and asked him why all the questions about downs and he explained the thing with kaitlyn's ears. They had a specialist analyze her - she does not have any of the downs markings on her feet or hands so they never moved forward with the blood test. t my last appointment I asked if there was still a chance she could have downs - he said most likley not but he could not guarantee that as you never know until she is bigger. It is defintely a scary thing to think about and a big realisty of today. On a positive note, if your son is downs, the city pays for everything...ALl education, transportation, special treatments, etc..Hopefully, your LO won't have downs but if he does, there is a lot of assistance nowadays. Could the birth mark just be a strawberry? My sister's kid has one on her face. It is kinda big and looks like a big scab - I guess it's a blood vessel that broke and should go away by 5 yrs of age...

Jade~ I am not sure in oz. but they are up to @60mls each. Out of their 8 a day. They usually do at least 5 full ones taking the whole bottle. :)

I spent the day with the boys at the Hospital today instead of going to school. I held Paul a little more than Benjamin but I think Benj understood. The doctor came to see me today and told me pretty much what most of you said, that basically they need to tell me every little thing as a precaution just incase. The brownish mole or birthmark may turn out to be nothing and the syndrome they speak of which is Beckwith Wiedemann. There are tons of characteristics but the only ones that refer to Paul are the inguinal hernia which a lot of little preemie boys get, and a large tongue that doesn't quit. He is always flapping it around and is a super sucker when feeding which I guess is a good thing. :) they are doing ultrasounds tomorrow to determine if all of his organs are fine which I am sure they are. Those are other factors in this syndrome. They are also sending out bloodwork to see if he does test positive for the BWS. If so, we will take it from there. As for the birthmark. A pediatric dermatologist will look at it once they are discharged. I may have overreacted yesterday but I feel like he has been the underdog from day one with the large yolk sac and the two vessels to the umbilical cord etc. He is a fighter that little man. :) to make matters worse, today I was informed that two babies in the NICU have RSV. SO they had to test all the babies in there. Ben and Paul tested negative but for 7-10 days of visits, we have to wear gowns and gloves and masks the whole time we are there. It really sucks. :( Not being able to touch their skin with our hands or touch their heads or kiss them without a damn mask inbetween us.

Lisa - Paul will be fine. My good friend had a baby at the same time you did and she had so many ups and downs including her child needing a blood transfusion - now her baby is 100% perfectly normal. I will keep thinking of you. What is RSV?

yep, I'm still working. My dh just found out his job is reducing to 4 days and will be off all week over Thanksgiving, Xmas and New Years. (of course no pay on those days). So I cannot afford not to keep working, because I cannot go with a paycheck. I have about 40 days paid time saved up, but want to save it until after the baby comes. So the longer I hold out, the better off I will be. I am hoping for a quick labor and hopes it starts soon!

Its scary when the docs talk about Downs. Since Kaitlyn only has the one symptom, chances are high she in NOT a Downs baby. She is adorable.

That sucks about the RSV. Not getting the skin on skin is so hard, especially after you had gotten used to it. You are right, Paul is a fighter, he beat the odds from the begining as he wasn't supposed to hang in there. You keep your positive thoughts and I will keep you in my prayers. Chances are good, there is nothing wrong with him, but if there is, he is a FIGHTER, and he will be ok and you can do whatever needs done. You must remember preemies can have things that "might" be this or that, but could also just be because they were premie and a little slower or different than a full term baby.

thanks Ronda, and yes...he is a little fighter. :) and the RSV sucks. just so glad they tested negative.

I just called and all of their routine u/s came back normal
renal, cranial and spinal. so those are all good signs for Paul for not having that syndrome.

As far as Down's. They know for sure he isn't Downs. So that is another positive.

RSV-- Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a major cause of respiratory illness in young children. RSV causes infection of the lungs and breathing passages. In adults, it may only produce symptoms of a common cold, such as a stuffy or runny nose, sore throat, mild headache, cough, fever, and a general feeling of being ill. But RSV infections can lead to other more serious illnesses in premature babies and kids with diseases that affect the lungs, heart, or immune system.
RSV is highly contagious, and can be spread through droplets containing the virus when a person coughs or sneezes. The virus can also live on surfaces such as countertops or doorknobs, and on hands and clothing. RSV can be easily spread when a person touches an object or surface contaminated with the virus. The infection can spread rapidly through schools and child-care centers. Infants often get it when older kids carry the virus home from school and pass it to them. Almost all kids are infected with RSV at least once by the time they are 2 years old.

I just want you to know that I am praying for you both.

Lyly, I hope your numbers keep doubling and that the rest of this time is smooth sailing for you. When I was p/g w/ triplets initially, I bled at 5 weeks, 8 wks b/c dh and I were foolish enough to try to have sex (big mistake) horrible red blood, and then I bled from 12 wks. to 16 wks. when I was losing the triplet. I cried tears of joy at my 16 wk. appt. when I heard 2 heartbeats. When I bled early on at 5 wks. there was a spot on my uterus where they could see that that was where I was bleeding from and the babies were fine despite the blood. Please know that you are in my thoughts.

I am glad that your boys are gaining weight. I hope that they come home soon for you. I am sure that you already know this, but they do have a RSV vacination. My twins received when they were in the NICU and got their last shot when they were about 6 or 7 months. Unfortunately my son still got RSV when he was 13 months old. He thankfully did not need to be hospitalized, but it was not a fun watching our son struggle to breath. Just beware though that insurance companies sometimes won't pay for the shot which is ridiculous. I should have fought for the kids to get shots past their 6 months age. I would have had them get it definitely past their 1st b-day. I will keep the boys in my prayers. I know all you want is to have them home safe and sound snuggled in your arms. You are a GREAT MOM!!

Congrats to all of the new moms! I love all of the pictures. The babies are adorable! Enjoy every moment b/c it all goes by so very fast.

I do not have facebook but I do have aol IM MSN IM and Yahoo IM for chats. Do you have any of those? I will look into the insurance for the shot. I would think they would cover as it is "preventative like the flu shot for me." They gave them the vaccine once now and will do it every 28 days for the next few months. After that I am not sure but will look into that too.

I am happy that you got some good news today. That is great. I am sure Paul doesn't have anything. Doctors scared us most of the time and it ends up being nothing. Paul has proved you that he is a fighter and he is very strong.

Meg thanks for the info. Dh and I have not had sex at all since prior to my transfer and I am not on vaginal progesterone (both of which my RE said can cause spotting). I don't really know what is going on but I pray my numbers have at least doubled since monday. I am still waiting for the call. Argg! I hate waiting.

I will let you all know what my numbers are when I get the call.
