I had an IVF procedure performed (5 day transfer) and today we had our first ultrasound. We saw two gestational sacs. The first was measuring 5wks 2days, which is right on schedule. We also saw a yolk sac.

The second was measuring at 4wks 6days with no yolk sac visible. Is this a bad sign for the second embryo? Is it common for one to be that far behind the other this early in pregnancy? We are excited and concerned at the same time. Please give me your thoughts.

Thank you,

The second gestational sac my be a pregnancy which will not continue. Yes, that is fairly common.
Good luck.
