The "D", in either case, stands for dilation of the cevix. The "C" stands for curretage, which means to scrape the contents of the cavity out. The"E" stands for extraction of the products of conception. The latter term is generally used to describe the emptying of the uterus after the demise of a more advanced pregnancy.
After the pregnancy hormone, hCG, is cleared from your body, your own system should start working again to stimulate your ovaries. That interval is variable.
