My name is Jacqueline. I have also was dignosed with PCOS in May after 2 years of trying to conceive. I have done so much research its crazy. Anyway, Apparently your not ovulation if you've been ttc. I am currently on clomid and the first sycle wasn't work so far. It has and still will be a emotional ride for me, but the support of others has kept me strong. If you have anymore ?'s just ask. I was recently diagnosed with PCOS as well. After trying everything else, I finally got my answers. PCOS is not as complicated as it sounds, believe me. I was so confused for the first month, my doctor was telling me cyst and I was thinking "Ouch, this thing is going to burst and I'm going to be in pain" and yadda yadda. I took Ovulex for a month and i bled like hell for 6-7 weeks. Not fun. I thought it was just the medication taking effect, when really it was the PCOS acting up. I talked to what seemed to be hundreds of people and read hundreds of articles trying to find out what exactly PCOS is! Then one day, I flat out asked the nurse in the doctor's office, "HEY! What exactly is PCOS?" And she made it so much more simple than my doctor, than a pamphlet, than the internet articles. Its just your hormone levels being abnormal, and you're producing too many eggs and abnormal eggs that can't be fertilized. I've been taking Metformin now for almost a month and I feel good. I also read more that Metformin is okay during pregnancy so hopefully, in the next few months, I can have a healthy pregnancy. Hopefully I [b]WON'T[/b] be compelled to try Ovulex again. Don't like it too much lol. But good luck. Its not as bad as it seems. And more women get pregnant with PCOS than not. ;)

Tons of info about PCOS, living with PCOS, pregnancy, etc. If you click on "Support" on the left side of the page, you will find descriptions of PCOS in PLAIN language, as well as links to more information so you can be educated about PCOS and how it affects your life.

There are great doctors working on PCOS, and there is a doctor in Cincinnati who discovered the metformin/PCOS connection. I can give you his website if you're interested. Not much information on there but you can do a Google search for Dr. Charles Glueck and see what you can find.

I'm sorry - it's a pain - but knowing you have PCOS can help you to better understand how to fight it.

If there is anything I can do, please let me know...I've done tons of research and I'm glad to help as best I can.

Hi Ladies I havent been to this site in a long time I was previously talking with the ladies from the ovulex forum I have been ttc for almost 5years ovulex did not work!! for me anyway, I was now able to se a RE thank to the new benefits I have, well she diagnosed me with PCOD I am so scared but it looks like a lot of woman are still able to concieve with this, I was put on provera to induce my period,nothing yet. has anyone had to use provera?? Also once I get my period i need to have the test to see if my tubes are blocked praying there not, if all is good with that then we start clomid and some type of injectable, forgot the name of it. Has anyone had success with clomid, I am hoping I can be preggo in like 4 months :D

The Provera will help your period return. It could take as much as 14 days, so don't worry. Trust me, it will come back like a hurricane.

The test to check your tubes is an HSG. They run dye through your tubes and watch on a real-time x-ray to see if there is a blockage. It's a quick and easy procedure, but can be a little uncomfortable. Sometimes the dye can clear a small blockage if there is any so it's a very valuable test.

As far as the clomid and injectable, yes, that worked for me. I can't remember the name of the injection, but it's a medication that will force your body to release the eggs you helped nurture with the clomid. There are different medications used for each of these roles but they all do the same thing. It's something done to help the timing of egg release.

I hope you will be pregnant soon, too. But remember - a couple trying to have a child with NO PROBLEMS will take as much as six months to get pregnant. With the clomid and help you're getting from your RE, it could take that long as well. It may happen in two months, it may take eight. It's REALLY difficult to get one teeny, tiny, little sperm to meet this tiny egg....the timing is actually quite remarkable. We were doing clomid/injection and it took us a couple of months longer than we had hoped. I'm not trying to frighten you, I just want you to be open to the fact that your calendar may have to be a little flexible, that's all...don't get stuck on the 4 month mark...look at the bigger picture.

Do what your RE tells you and keep us posted...there are special concerns with PCOS/PCOD, but your RE will make sure those concerns are addressed.

you made me feel so much better that you went throught the same thing I am going through now. I am just driving myself crazy reading everything online, about the woman going with clomid for like seven years which i though you cant be on clomid for that long at all anyway, but you eased my mind. I will keep you posted I am crampy now as I am typing this lol maybe AF is on the way!!!

AF has arrived I am scheduled for the blue dye test dec12th, so we will see what happens. I am going crazy waiting!!!!

The waiting is really the worst part of infertility...wait, wait, wait...then hurry up and do something then...wait, wait, wait.

everything was clear no blockage yayy.... So now I dont know what to do I called my docs office an she said they cant do anything if I dont plan an IUI I wanna try normally for a few months!! I have the clomid,provera,and also ovidrel prescriptions just dont know what to with them helppppppp!!! Please she said clomid day 5 thru 9 but where does the ovidrel come in??does anyone know

Well, yes, we did do IUI. But, between all our attempts, I had two surgeries and one took nearly four months for me to recover and there was talk of a hysterectomy and all sorts of nasty stuff. So, all in all, we did IUI six times. I talked with my doctor and he said that a couple at home with no problems trying on their own would take upwards of six to eight months to get pregnant. So, it would not be out of the question for us to need six to eight tries with IUI before the RE considered another option for us. I felt okay wtih that. I know some women who went the IUI route twice and the doc forced them to IVF. Sometimes, IVF if like swatting a fly with a mallet...you really don't want to go that route unless you positively, absoloutely have to. So, you may have to do IUI a couple more times than you would like. But, do NOT panic until your RE gives you reason to do so. If they panic, then you can, too.

It's odd that they gave you all the meds and NO direction. Hmm. I would call them back and ask them what you are to do with them because the Ovridel is an injectible, I think, that you use just prior to an IUI...or to functional sex to time your ovulation. Really, those aren't meds you should just be using as you see fit. You need to be under some guidance with them. So, call them and ask them what you're to do with them. If you want to try on your own for a bit, then just use the clomid as she said days 5 - 9, then don't worry about the ovridel for a while. But, ask her how long she wants you to continue that route, too, because I think there are a finite number of times you can take clomid with PCOS.

Keep me posted and let me know what else I can do to help.

Oh, ask when you should be timing sex during your ovulation period. Some docs say every other day, some day every day, some say start 1 day before you ovulate, some say go 1 day after...so find out what she wants you to do. Also, do your own research...and use common sense. DH flat out REFUSED after our third cycle on our own to do the daily bit...

Hi all,

Dx with PCOS last month. Had Provera to induce period, but by the time I saw RE (for the first time), it was too late for HSG. So now, waiting for january cycle (most probably Provera induced again) to do HSG and then going on Met.

I'll let you know how it goes. Just wanted to share my story.

Today is the first time I have ever logged onto this support group and I am so happy that other people are in the same situation as myself. My huband and i have been trying to get pregnant for a year and I have been seeing a RE for 6 mo b/c they knew I was NOT ovulating from the start.....I was diagnosed with PCOS. It has been a long, emotional road! Everytime I get ready to start IUI, my cycts act up and the answer I get is...we CANNOT proceed, you need to go on BC pills for a month or so......!!!!!! This has been so emotional...all I do is cry! Has anyone else had this PCO major flare up???? I am ready to go to a new RE for a 2nd opinion....but, is that just wasted time?

Oh my dear...I am so sorry you've had to travel this road. Believe me, I know the road well and I'm sorry your path brought you this way.

I am glad that you've found us here - these boards are great support and I hope you find help and comfort here.

I would stick wtih your RE. It sucks, yes, but if they proceeded, your RE would be risking your health and possibly your ovaries so it is in your best interest to ride it out. The last time they put my on BC for my PCOS, I was on them for three months, 5 pills a day for two weeks. It sucked. But, TRUST ME, it is FAR better than being in the hospital with overstimulated ovaries. Wow. THAT sucks. Not a path you want to take. So, without meaning to sound trite, be patient...and ask what you can do to make the situation better. My RE told me to cut carbs and sugar and caffiene to help and that seemed to make a difference. Are you on Metformin or Glucophage or anything like that? If you're not, you might want to ask your RE about it...do some research on the internet about PCOS and Metformin if you've never heard about it.

This whole thing IS terribly emotional. TERRIBLY emotional. So it's okay that all you do is cry. Someday those tears will be tears of joy and this will all be behind you. You are not wasting your time right now, so don't feel that way. You're doing everything you can, and that is all you can do.

Hi ladies!! I just found this site and I am thinking you guys are going to be a great help to me. I was dx with PCOS is january of 2004. We had been trying to get pregnant for over 4 years by then with no success. I started Metformin and in March of that year I added Clomid and boom got pregnant that cycle. My husband and I have decided we are going to start trying again in May. I was wondering if any of you have done injectables instead of just the Clomid? I just wonder if it would get us pregnant faster. Ideally I would like to be pregnant by October of this year. I know it seems like forever away from now, but with my experiance, it may take even longer than that. I just finished a 10 day prescription of Provera to induce AF but havent started yet. My last pill was this past Wednesday, so I am wondering if it will even work. Anyway, I am rambling, just wanted to say hello and I look forward to getting to know you guys.

:D Yayyy we are starting to some more ladies here to chat, well everyone I am starting clomid this month as soon as AF appears, I am very excited can't wait to get this rolling, ckelly how long did it take you to get preggo with clomid? If you dont mind me asking? Did you have an IUI? I was told I can try for a few months the old fashioned way I dont want to have to IUI :'(
