Thanks for the info about c-section delivery.

I asked my RE about the calcium thing and that's why I am on a prenatal that has lots of calcium and folic acid (having mthfr, the way your body absorbs folic acid is different). I will post the name of the prenatal when I get home. I am at work now. I assume you can taket he extra calcium to be sure.

Hi, new here, these posts are way more helpful and detailed than ivillage or american baby, you ladies know EXACTLY what I am going through. This may be kind of a personal question, but how are you all affording this Lovenox, even with my insurance my co pays are between $1000-$2000 per month and am taking 80 mg 1 time a day, but docs wrote perscription for 2 times a day, does anyone think that is waaaay too much, or have others taken that high of a dose? I have had previous clots including one going to the lungs in 2005 and having to terminate at 11 wks, I was not on Lovenox at that time, so hopefully everything will go well this time, I am currently 7weeks.

Sorry, ladies for posting on the wrong sight, I am already pregnant, but you can all have hope, that it will happen for you, although I don't have fertility issues, I do have lupus and scleroderma, and have had 2 previous clots, 1 going to the lungs, I just saw the Lovenox topic.

Congratulations on your pregnancy!!!!! I am now 26 weeks pregnant and am currently on lovenox (115mg 2x a day). Thank God my insurance is covering all except my co-pay of $20.00. I didn't realize that a lot of insurances don't pay for this. My insurance is paying over 7 thousand a month on this. I truly wouldn't be able to afford it w/o the insurance. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers that all goes well with you and your baby.

Autumn, just wondering how much Lovenox you are taking, I too have had 2 previous clots, and am now pregnant, they are recommending, 80mg 2x day, that seemed like alot to me

Hi Melanie...Cigna covers this drug and only charges $20/month copay for it. Check it out!!

Melanie,
I am taking the lovenox @ 115mg 2 times a day. The dose is factored by your weight. The more you weigh, the higher the dose. Sucks doesn't it?!

I pay my copay for Lovenox, which is $25.00 per month. I take 40mg per day. But, when I take the clomid for 5 days I do 120mg twice a day. It all depends on your situation as well. I was on a therapeutic dose of coumadin for 4 years before we ttc. So right now I am on a pretty low dose because my homocysteine levels are normal and no clots for 4 years.

Hi i am new to the site Me new fertility dr wants me to take lovenox to help prevent another miscarriage. I have had six preganancies 3 miscarriages then my daughter who is 2 1/2 yrs old then 3 miscarriages after her. I did not use lovenox with her. I have no history of blood clots nor does anyone in my family. None of the tests say that i need the drugs, however the dr says she would rather over treat me then under treat me, to me all the risks dont add up, Would you guys please give me some of your personal feed back to help me make up my mind weather to take this or not.. ;D

I talked with my ob and fertility dr. If there is reason for a c-sestion or for repeat c-section it is perfectly safe they will switch you to hepern 4-6 weeks prior. Hepren is safe for surgery.

Hi ladies,

I'm new to these boards. I'm just about 18 weeks PG with my first child. About 5 years ago a developed a clot in my lung and we found out I have Factor V in one gene. Up until I got PG I was on Coumadin. Now I take 1 40mg shot of Lovenox daily. After the baby is born I'll be on the Lovenox for another month and then my hematologist thinks it will be fine for me to not continue taking blood thinners again. He thinks a lot of what developed my clot was that I was over weight and on birth control. As long as I don't go on birth control again and can lose the baby weight he thinks I'll be in the clear.
Tomorrow I have the BIG ultrasound scheduled. It's a level II. While my husband and I are super excited to find out what we are having! My fear is that the Lovenox could cause defects to our baby. I haven't been able to find much info on this and was wondering if any of you might be able to shed some light.

Hi Amy,
Congradulations on your pregnancy! I'm not sure how much I can comfort you, but from what I was told, lovenox is safe to take while being pregnant and has little to no side effects to the baby. Coumadin, on the other hand, can be fatal to the baby which is why you have been switched. I, myself, am pregnant and on lovenox. I am 32 weeks pregnant and have been through the same fears as yourself, not to mention the fact that I am still fearful of what's to come. Until I have my baby in my arms, I don't know that I will totally feel out of the woods. This is why I continue to read the posts here. It is much easier to go through this with other people who are going through the same or similar things. I previously had a clot due to a tight cast on my leg after surgery. That was in 2004. Then, a week after I found out I was pregnant, I was hospitalized with another clot behind the knee. Needless to say, the shots have been going on since November. I am taking 2 shots a day @ 115mg per dose. You don't have a high dose and only have to take it once a day. That is wonderful!!!! Hang in there and keep as positive as you can. There is a baby in you trying to grow and needs all of the positive feedback that mommy and daddy can give.

Thanks autumnsky! I do find this website rather comforting. I was reading PrincessB's previous posts and they were a little scary but no less a reality in some cases I'm sure. Happier thoughts are much better though. I can't wait for tomorrow to see our little bean on ultrasound and to find out if we are having a Makayla or a Riley!!
