Zakbnel: Waht have they given you for your hypermesis. I also have it. I am considered a severed caseof hypermesis. I had a picc line and all during the beginning. I lost 40lbs. How far along are you now?
[/quote]

My OB had me on zoloft and phenergan. Although neither did any good. I had multiple trips to the ER for IV fluids, but was never put on a picc line. Not sure why as I wasn't eating or drinking anything. Not even a sip and was throwing up all day and all night. I didn't even have the strength to crawl to the toilet, so I just slept by it. I lost 28 lbs. With the first I lost 25 lbs. There were days I thought I was going to die and other days I wished that I would. I'm now 27 weeks and am... better. I'd say much better than I was before, but still not great. My acid is horrible and I still have some nausea every day. There isn't a lot I can eat. I've gained some weight back, but not much.

Hugs to you and anyone else suffering from HG. Have you been on the forums at helpher.org? I've posted there some, but not in awhile. My username is the same.

amiyah~ sounds high to me for not having a clotting disorder, im 197lbs and i do have a mild clotting disorder and im only on 40mg daily.

ZakBNel~ even though you dont have a clotting disorder you have had clots in the past, which i believe puts you at higher risk for developing clots than those of us who just have the diagnosis but never actually experienced a blood clot. so i think its a bad idea to skip shots without your doctors consent.

hafletcher05~ i dont have factor v but i have a clotting disorder and my doc said the only form of BC i could do is an IUD. so i think u should be ok.

as for me im sooo pissed at myself, i accidentally didnt take my shot last night b/c i fell asleep early(i take it at 10pm) usually my DH wake me up when this happens but he fell asleep early too. so i tdawned on me this morning at 8:30am and i took it right away. has any one done this before?

i had a docs appointment and she said its ok and to just take my shot again tonight. it just makes me nervous. so had my 6th u/s today and im 10 weeks 4days and there is still a HB, i need that reassurance each time b/c if i dont have it ill go crazy. i have the first trimester u/s screening for downs on 1/3/08 and then after that i dont see my doc till 1/15/08, so thats 2 weeks and 2 days till the next time they check on the baby, by then ill have gone crazy.

ZakBNel: i have also posted to that website. Have they gave you anything for the acid. I take 40mg of protonix 2x a day. When they got that under control i was finally able to eat. With my first i lost 30lbs and gained a total of 18 during thepregnancy. THis one i lost 40lbs and i have gained 14 back so far.

hafletcher05 - December 19th, 2007 11:24 AM

veroki- thank you for the advice and everyone else too...I have accidentally skipped a shot before and I called my hematologist and he said just take it as soon as possible and continue my regular schedule, he also said it should be a problem, and I never had any problem, so i think you will be fine, but if you want reassurance call your doctor.

amiyah- I am also wondering why they have you on such a high dose, if I where you I would defiantly be asking my doctor why, and making sure it is right

zakbnel- I agree with veroki you should not stop the shots without talking to your doctor, especially since you have had clots in the past. I was told you are more likely to develop a clot right after your baby is born and if you stop the shot without being put on a lower dose first, most people are weened off so they do not develop a clot.

hafletcher05 - December 19th, 2007 11:26 AM

Zakbnel- you may want to ask your doctor if you ca take Zofran for nausea and vomiting, I got sick everyday all day before i was put on it.

ZakBNel - December 19th, 2007 3:05 PM

I was on zofran 8mg 3x a day along with phenegren and it didn't do much.

I just skipped one shot and got right back on them the next day. All is well! I have 2 1/2 more months to go and don't plan on skipping any more. I just needed a break. I'm so bruised and knotted (as I'm sure all of you are too!) and they hurt SO BAD!

Yes, I was taking protonix for awhile, but now am on prilosec 1x a day and pepcid 2x a day. It helps a little, I think, but I still can't eat much. I'm just now able to take prenatals without being sent into a 3 day vomitting spree. I'm 27 weeks.

After the baby gets here, they will take me off the shots (YAY!) and put me on coumadin pills. I'll be on those for at least a year.

bdantonio - December 19th, 2007 4:16 PM

I was told not to take the prenatals as long as i was getting sick from them that hypermesis is worse on them i take 2 childrens chewables a day.

I tried children's chewables and they made me sick. I found some prenatals that do not make me sick.

Did you know that they make prenatals wih antinausea meds in them i took them before too with my first daugther.

Hi Everyone,
I have just spent the last few hours reading all your messages since 2006....wow....I am honored to be here.

Little history. On Dec 5, 2006 I delivered my little girl Annabelle still at 28 weeks. It was devestating. The cause was "unknown", but after months of pushing for testing it came back that I have Factor V and Prothrombin?. I had a chemical pregnancy two months ago.

Happily, I am pregnant again. I am 5 weeks today. I just started my first Lovenox shot this morning. I am on 30mg x 2 daily. My doctor did not prescribe any folic or aspirin. Should I question that? The hemotologist indicated that this is what I needed.

I have to tell you all that I am so scared right now. I do not know how one goes through another pregnancy after a loss. I am just focusing on getting through one day at a time. I don't want to not be joyful right now, but I am so scared.

It sounds like women have had positive results using Lovenox. I am hopeful for that for myself. You all are brave women and I hope that we all find some joy during this holiday season.

Jen

Everyone i know has taken baby asprin with lovenox. The folic acid strengthens your uterus and reproductive organs. Most OB's put you on it while being pg also.

hafletcher05 - December 20th, 2007 6:39 PM

Yes, I know how you feel the shots hurt so bad and they seem to only be getting worse, but i just think about my little girl and know that If i dont suffer through this pain she may not be healthy. I can not wait until she is here safe and healthy and I dont have to take them any more, and I am really thankful to have each and every one of you, who know what It is like to be able to share my distress with, and hopefully we are all making it easier for each other.

Jen- I have Factor V as well and I am not on aspirin or folic either, I have had no problems, but I would suggest asking your doctor if you feel like it may help...and honestly my dr. is probably sick of me asking so many questions because I do a good bit of research and I am always asking about all kinds of things, but i just think hey that is what they are there for. glad you are joining us.

hafletcher05 - December 20th, 2007 6:42 PM

your right my prenatal vitamins have folic acid in them

Jenabella - December 20th, 2007 8:11 PM

Hi Heather,
Thank you for the guidance. I am so funny because I always think that my doctor will think I am crazy if I ask so many questions, but I truly believe we have every right to ask when this is our life and our child's life at stake. I think I will call tomorrow to ask. I just don't understand yet all of the reasons for medicine. I know they tested my folic acid and it was really good so maybe that is why they didn't prescribe it....who knows.

And, I am glad I have joined. It is such an isolating process to go through. Sometimes I feel like I am some kind of alien. When people found out I was taking shots, they look at me like I am some kind of mystery..

Well, thanks for the thoughtful words!

Jen

hafletcher05 - December 21st, 2007 12:16 PM

Jen,
You are so welcome I have been where you are. I often feel the same way. People just look at you like you are crazy and they seem to not understand. And I am glad you decided to call you dr. he really is there to help and he may be overwhelmed too, but that is his job, and you should always ask if there is anything else you think that may help and it may just be that he hasnt thought about it or he need to do some research. I have my dr. research things all the time and if I find something, I take it to him. Best wishes.

Happy Holidays everyone!

babygreen - December 24th, 2007 3:51 PM

ZakBNel: I agree with you, the shots due hurt. I found when I do the shots myself, they don't hurt as much as when my DH gave them to me. I don't know why this is because he was very gentle. So now I give my own shots. I also give my shots in my upper leg/thigh area because for some reason it doesn't hurt as much as when I give my shot in the hip area. I hope this helps you :)
