veroki~thanks for the info. I already know that I will have to inject myself. My DH is afraid of needles. He can't stand to see them go into skin. Even on TV when it's fake.

I would definitely ask a high risk doctor about traveling. I would think since you are on lovenox, it might be ok to get on a plane, but it doesn't hurt to ask someone who knows for sure.

I agree with aefthimiadis, excercise is great for you and your baby. Listen to your body. If you feel yourself getting tired a little earlier than you used to....slow down....(that is what I have always heard). Good Luck with everything.

Congrats to everyone on your pg's.

Babygreen,

First of all, congratulations on your pregnancy. I hope everything goes well for you. As far as having hip pain, I haven't experienced that. I am almost 15 weeks pregnant, but I have been giving the lovenox in my stomach. Have you tried giving it in the stomach?

veroki - November 13th, 2007 6:26 PM

aefthimiadis~ thanks! i know its easier to form blood clots on a on plane because your sitting for long periods of time but that can be easily remedied by getting up every so often and stretching or going to the bathroom and chicago to punta cana is only a 4 hour flight(i think i sit longer on my chair at work to be honest) . my main concern is going to another country and consuming their food and meats, you never know what grade they are, not the same standards as the usa.

cladesigns~my dh just tried giving my injection last night and it hurt worse than ever, i think its easier to deal with self inflicted pain than it is to deal with someone else causing it! that was his first and last time. its not as bad as i was led to believe by some people on this site, i really worked myself up and although they sting ive felt worse pain. now its only been 4 days i may be singing a different tune in the next 9 months after doing it day in and out . time will only tell.

as for the excercise, i went today and did 35 mins on the treadmill and i noticed the brown spotting on my underwear afterwards. any shed some light on this spotting? i called the dumb doctors office and asked to speak to a doctor or nurse cause i was experiencing spotting and can you believe it took them 4 hours to call me back? they said that as long as it wasnt red that there was nothing to worry about and they dont think the lovenox is what is causing me to spot, but how can you explain the day after my first shot was when i start to notice a faint brown when i wiped(too gross i know)? they said that the cervix is very vascular when you pregnant so its common to spot......

im calling the doctor my friedn suggeted tomorrow morning and checking to see if they will take me on,keep ya posted....

veroki - November 13th, 2007 7:47 PM

im bleeding now, red blood, i thought that would follow shortly........... called doctors said as long as its light can wait till tomorrow morning, no need to go to ER, this has been one rough week.......

aefthimiadis - November 14th, 2007 11:32 AM

Veroki:

A lot of women spot and bleed in the beginning of pregnancy....are you cramping also?

I would def. make sure the dr. sees you and if not go to emergency room.

It could be implantation bleeding.

babygreen - November 14th, 2007 2:15 PM

Proudmom-I don't take my shots in the stomach because when I research the medicine and how to adminster it, the manufacturer and Dr. said to inject in the upper leg or upper arm. I choose the upper leg. Congratulations to you also!!

Veroki- I to experienced brown discharged like you, however I didn't start bleeding. I went to my Perinatal Dr. (high risk Dr.) and had an internal ultrasound which showed everything was ok. I limited my activities. I would suggest to stop exercising on the treadmil and to rest as much as you can. Since reducing my activities, including how much I would drive, I haven't had the brown discharged. Hope this helps :)

CLADesigns - November 14th, 2007 3:17 PM

veroki~thanks for the info again. I really appreciate it. I just had a scare myself. I was 3 days late with my period. I am usually never late. So my DH and I got a little freaked out. We both agree that we are not ready for another pg.

I have a question about being high risk and pg. After putting y'all on lovenox, has anyone's dr said anything about bedrest? My reg ob said that he would put me on bedrest after my first trimester, but the perinatal dr didn't mention bedrest at all. Just curious about what I have to look forward to the next time.

veroki - November 14th, 2007 8:21 PM

hey guys,

i went to the doctor today, she looked at my cervix and said it was shut and then did a ultrasound and could still see a fetal sac, but i guess since they have really old and barley functioning ultrasound equipment she sending me with an order to the hospitals imaging dept so they can tell me if theres a heart beat or not. i was bleeding, red blood but as soon as it started it stopped. this also happend with my last pregnancy at around 5 and half weeks and then i carried 10 more weeks after that till there was a fetal demise so i dont whether or not to be worried. my last pregnancy isnt good for comparison to put my mind at ease. so i got an appointment tomorrow morning for the u/s so we'll see. they dated me at 5 weeks(even though from conception its 3 and half weeks) so my due date is july 13th.

babygreen~ thanks, kinda puts my mind at ease to know im not the only one with the spotting. yeah im going to lay off excercising(though it kills me to do that) and im going to try to lay down as much as possible when im home so we'll see.

aefthimiadis~ i did have some achy-ness so i dont know, ill have to look up what implantation bleeding, could be, we'll know tomorrow for sure.

slippy - November 14th, 2007 10:35 PM

i just found out i'm pregnant - i've been on coumadin for 3 years for FVL and a history with DVT. now my doctors want to put me on lovenox, which i expected, but when i went to pick up the prescription i was told that my insurance won't cover it. has anyone had a problem with their insurance coverage? what do i do now?

babygreen - November 15th, 2007 1:22 PM

Veroki- I'm sure everything is ok :) Each pregnancy is different so please don't compare your last to this one. I know it's hard, but you can do it. By comparing my current pregnancy to my last two which resulted in two miscarrages, I was driving myself nuts. Each pain I felt I just knew it was not good. Although being pregnant you will have a little pain and discomfort. Once I stopped comparing, I was at ease and not stressed out. When you're resting you don't necessarily have to be laying down in bed. You could rest by sitting on the couch/chair and just being still. I wish you the best. Keep us posted :D

CLA Designs-My high risk Dr. didn't put me on bedrest due to the Lovenox. I don't think being on Lovenox is a reason to be on bedrest. But again I'm not a Dr. You do of course, have to be careful when using a knife or something sharp. If at all possible I would get someone else to cut things for you. My husband is doing all the cooking so I don't have to use a knife or anything sharp. I was also told to wear house slippers while home, to prevent possible cuts on my feet and to prevent stumping my toes.

babygreen - November 15th, 2007 1:25 PM

Slippy- I didn't have prescription insurance until today, so we were paying cash. OMG Lovenox is so expensive. Each shot cost approx. $30 each. If you have AAA you will get a discount. Let me know how much you had to pay.

veroki - November 15th, 2007 8:51 PM

so i went for my u/s today, the tech was taking forever looking at the screen and i sat a long time with that probe in me(gross) so i thought this has to be bad news since it was taking to so long right? so she finally turns the screen toward me and shows me the yolk sac and then says "see that little flicker inside the yolk sac, i"think" thats the heart beat but im not sure. its registering at 72 bts and its differnt than yours so i think thats it but your measureing smaller than you supposed to so i dont know " heres where i say well you guys are telling me im 5 weeks but i know for a fact i concieved on 10/20 so i think im less than you think i am. and she says" but still when i first measured it i got 6 weeks and i havent been able to get the same measurment, so i cant confirm with thats the heart beat or not and youll probably have to have another u/s in one week" so for now im going to say im still pregnant and we'll see next week what the story is.......

slippy - November 15th, 2007 9:42 PM

Thanks, babygreen. i found out today that my prescription insurance won't pay for the medicine, but my health insurance will - whew, what a relief, i was up all night worrying about it. but i do have to pay for it upfront and then get reimbursed. so where do you get your shots? i don't pay anywhere near $30 a shot - it's over $100 for me (approx $4000 for a month's supply!).

Mary Anne - November 16th, 2007 10:31 AM

I found a great resource if you are un insured or under insured for lovenox, The maker has a lovenox reimbursement and Patient Assistant program.

If you are need of this assistance please visit.
http://www.lovenox.com/consumer/r
esources/reimbursementServices.aspx

I
also work for an insurance company and if you call them if they are not covering most of the time you can get it covered by providing a Prior Authorization form that the insurance company can provide you, or your Dr. may be able to write a letter of medical necessity

CLADesigns - November 16th, 2007 11:31 AM

Thanks for that info maryanne. It's nice to know that there are things that you can do to get the medication that you need without going broke.

Is that a common problem that insurance doesn't cover the shot? Since I am not taking it right now but plan on taking it for my next pg, is there something that I can do before I get pg to find out if my insurance covers that?

babygreen - November 16th, 2007 1:19 PM

slippy-WOW that's more expensive than mine! I get my prescription filled at Walgreens Pharmacy in California, USA. Mary Annne has a link to a Lovenox reimbursement program. Check them out to see if they can help you. I know I am. :) Good Luck!

Mary Anne- Thanks for the information!
