HI Everyone. 7 wks pregnant and stated taking 40mg of lovenox since 6 wks and 81mg of baby asprin daily. Question, is it normal to have no morning sickness. I am worried, I have only had it two day but I had the flu and not is gone. I get queaky to my stomach but that is all. The neasous feeling can last all day, sometimes starting at midnight till the morning, some days I have none. I just want to be sure this is normal. My 3rd pregnancy, 2 previous m/c's. Does the lovenox have something to do with it?

Thanks, Claudia

Hi Heather,

Yes, that helps to hear others are going as often! I have enjoyed seeing the baby and hearing his/her heartbeat every two weeks, so in hopes that all goes well, I will just look at it as an extra benefit!! I have the big 16 week ultrasound next Tuesday (the 16th) and then I believe I won't go back until week 20 for another and then they start weekly at week 24.

Claudia,

I have had no morning sickness either. I feel nauseous even now at week 15 when I even think of certain foods and sometimes feel queasy right when I get out of bed. I just consider that a very mild case of it. My sister didn't have a bit of sickness with any of her four children - so I think it is rather common. Hope that helps!

I am trying to get pregnant now and will be on lovenox 40 mg. every day from the day of a positive test. Is anyone pregnant on lovenox and exercise? how does that work? is it good for our condition

mommy2jakeandjoe - January 10th, 2007 4:43 PM

Claudia,
I took Lovenox for my first pregancy and Heparin for my second - both times I bruised a lot and the only thing I found to help was putting ice on the area and using insulin needles - they are much thinner than regular ones, also I had NO morning sickness with my first son who will be 6 this month and then I had ALL DAY sickness for 4 months with my second son who just turned one in Dec!! I was convinced the second one was a girl because my pregnancies were so different!! With both boys I alternated the sides of my stomach that I injected - with the Heparin it was twice a day so I did left-morning and right-evening and when you run out of room you can use your legs and butt too!! Good luck to you,
-Valerie

[quote]Has anyone had problems with brusing on one side from injections. I am only getting bursing on my right side and not my left? Its looks awful, worried. Also, I have like no morning sickness, is this a bad or good sign? I am just worried for I read that the more sicknesss you have the better your pregnancy will be successful and I only had it like 3 times but than I had the flu and now over the flu and the m/S has stopped.

Tiffany,
Hi. Thanks for the good thought. So far so good, 7 weeks yesterday. I called a nurse at my ob for I have bursing on my right side only but not on my left. It looks awful, big and black. The two bruises have like joined togehter. Have you or anyone else have that problem from Lovenox?

Thank you for your responce Tiffany.

Claudia

Hi all,

I changed doctors and I am now living in a city where I have access to more specialists and doctors. He did another sono and everything appeared fine, I am measuring where I need to be. The baby is measuring at 3.6 cm and heart rate is 167, although they didn't turn it up so I could hear :( I heard it a few weeks ago so I dont understand why....BUt this doctor was concerned that I am on Lovenox 2x a day and is sending me to a maternal medicine doctor, he pointed out that I might as well be on Heparin since I am giving myself a shot 2x a day, and that most people on Lovenox only have to do it once a day...So I have to go tomorrow, they also said they would go a level 2 sono. After doing research I got worried because level 2 sono's are usually done when something appears to be wrong with the baby in the first sono. BUT I called the nurse and she said everything appeared fine on the sono and they were only sending me to a specialist because I am high risk and on the lovenox. I am just worried because everthing seems to be going fine with the lovenox, i would hate to mess anything up.

my dr told me not to exercise in the first trimester. I went on and on about blood flow. And how it needs to be going to the placenta and when you exercise your blood goes to your muscles. Or something like that. it all made since when he said it. Anyways giving up exercise sucks but it is a small price to pay.

Miicki-
My understanding is that the doctors are doing the biophysical ultrasounds in order to make sure of two things. First that the placenta is healthy and that it gets good blood flow and second to make sure that the baby is healthy and on a good growth schedule. During the ultrasounds the first thing they do is check the placenta and the blood flow through the placenta and through the umbilical cord. Then they do all the measurements on the baby and check his organs.

I am willing to pay any price trust me Julia. I will have to ask my dr. because I know that not moving around and relaxing all day will just help clot the blood. I was thinking of only doing prenatal yoga and walking.

I'm starting my 31st week. I've been on Lovenox and asprin since week 3. My Dr. says I should stop the Lovenox at week 37.

I have so much anxiety about stopping. This is the furthest I've got in 6 pregnancies.

My levels for anticardiolipin were very low, almost boarderline, but due to the marjon of error he put me on the Lovenox and it helps.

Any input anyone has would be appreciated

I exercise everyday. My doctor told me the only things I shouldn't do are hot baths, rollercoasters and sky-diving. It is good to get your blood pumping while you are pregnant - no need to stop. Unless your doctor says otherwise...

HeatherMak - January 12th, 2007 4:09 PM

Hmm...I can't imagine why you were told not to exercise. If your condition is that bad that you can't exercise, you should probably be on bed rest. I was told to exercise as much as I could withstand. But, you may have other conditions that preclude you from exercise. I would ask for specifics as to WHY you were told no exercise. That seems rather counterintuitive unless you're on bedrest. As I've said a thousand times before - be informed about your healthcare and question the decisions of your doctor. Doctors do not make decisions for you, they HELP you make informed decisions...never trust a doctor blindly without questioning every decision, drug, procedure, test or directive. Ask why, what your options are, what the long-term consequences are, ask, ask, ask. This is YOUR body and YOUR baby...not the doctor's...so ask, ask, ask.

HI:

on a side note--- has anyone traveled on a plane with lovenox---i know with all the airline security, etc- can i take the syringes in my carry on? or are they safe in my luggage under the plane--- i don't want them to explode. i'm probably going to FL so if something were to happen to them i could easily get another perscription--- but a small chance i'm going to Mexico---- one last trip before baby comes in May.

thanks--

HeatherMak - January 13th, 2007 5:20 PM

Miicki,

GOOD FOR YOU!! Take all the time you can NOW to travel!!

Yes, you can travel with Lovenox. I would get a note from your doc who prescribed it ON THEIR PRESCRIPTION PAD that it is medically necessary for you to take it...that way you can talk it over with your doc before you go. THEN, carry as much as you need with you for three days in case your luggage is lost and make SURE the note on your doc's rx pad saying that it is MEDICALLY NECESSARY for you to take this medication with you on the airplane is packaged WITH your Lovenox. Keep it in as much original packaging as possible and take it in your carry-on. Once you get to the ticketing counter, you can ask what would be the best way to carry it...I doubt they will explode, but you can call the manufacturer to see about transportation...that number is 1-888-632-8607.

HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!

well--- i'll have my 4 yr old so it won't be a completely relaxing trip but she is easy so it will be fun :)
ok, i'll talk to the DR about getting a note- i actually haven't gone back to her since going on lovenox.
thanks for the info & ph number...
have a good night.

Gidd - January 16th, 2007 12:32 AM

The third trimester is about to begin this Wednesday. 3 more months of the gritting my teeth and sweaty palms. Then 20 years to follow of a different but more pleasant type of paranoia. This Sat we are going for our 3D ultrasound, I'm looking forward to seeing the face I've already feel in love with without even seeing. I hope she loves her daddy just as much :D. The new thing me and my wife have going is we laugh about when the baby grows up to a little girl and complains about what we aren't doing for her, we always have the trump card of 9+ months of needles and worry. Of course my wife has me 1 upped too. I'm the one who has to jab her each night, and while she spends all the time carrying the baby, all I hold is the icepack and her hand. One thing I definately got out of all of this so far is I don't think I will ever think to myself that any task is too hard again seeing the challange she bares with a smile. Its amazing how trivial a problem can seem with just the rub of a belly.

My new worry though is now that we are getting down to the nitty gritty, and her belly is well popped. Did anyone start moving their injection sites to the sides more? I'm afraid I'm going to pop something otr jab the baby. I started tilting the needle more sideways to not put it in so deep but the other day I overcompensated and went way too shallow. Soon as I pushed the plunger I saw the liquid cause a blister under her skin and it got so tight. I readjusted and went deeper again and it worked normally and the blister was absorbed and went down in about an hour. I hate when I mess up! Also some nights just as I insert the needle she starts kicking away in there, I think she feels my wife tense up and it makes her nervous so she puts up a fuss.

Oh hey!

Almost forgot I spoke to my Health care this week, not my persciption plan and they are getting me the Lovenox for free by delivery now. We aren't considered a low income case but the wonderful rep on the phone said that your health care provider can send a nurse to your house to show you how to do the needle correctly. After that point even if you do it yourself you are considered as doing something theraputic under the care of a physician so it is covered under your health care instead of your persciption plan. The boxes were on my doorstep delivered next day.

Double Hey!

Mikki if you do go to Mexico make sure that you talk to your doctor about precautions against bacterial infections. It's not just drinking the water that can get you, it's anything washed in it or cooked in it, if not brought to the right temp. E-coli during pregnancy is a nasty business.
