Hello Ladies,

3 years ago I delivered a healthy baby boy. 10 days after delivery I was hospitalized with a blood clot extending from my abdomen to my toes. I was hospitalized for a month. Was unable to bear any weight on my leg, and was in a wheel chair for another 2 weeks, then a walker for an additional 3 weeks and then I had a cane for 7 weeks. Needless to say I am familiar with lovenox, warfarin and baby aspirin. I continue to take 15 mg of warfarin a day.

My husband and I recently started talking about a 2nd child, my husband is apprehensive. I don't blame him, I am a little wary myselfabout taking lovenox pregnant.

I just wanted to say thank you for all the women who shared there stories on this site. I am hopeful now that if we do decide to get pregnant again, my child will be healthy.

My prayers are with all of you!

i am a grandma to be and worried about my step daughter. She is taking Lovenox and need input. thanks

Tifany - January 5th, 2007 12:31 AM

I was just googling Lovenox and found this website. I'm really surprised at how many other people take Lovenox.

I took my first Lovenox shot tonight. This will be my 3rd pregnancy in the last 11 months. After having two miscarriages my Dr. wanted to run some tests. I went in the middle of December and they ran lots of different blood tests. My Dr called with the test results today. The Factor V, Proetine C, and Protein S tests came back abnormal.

I took a pregnancy test four days ago and it was positive. My doctor put me on 40mg of Lovenox and a baby aspirin right away. She is setting up an appt with a maternal fetal medicine sub-specialist (whoever that is?).

My stomach is already bruised from my 1st shot. Does everyone get bruises?

When did your doctors normally give you your first ultrasound (6 wks, 9wks, etc)? During my other pregnancies I had them done only because I was bleeding and they led to finding out I had miscarried. I would just love to go to the doctor and be able to see that my baby is actually there and alive.

I think I'm feeling very sorry for myself right now, but I know I shouldn't be. I'm actually very lucky compared to some woman who have more severe problems than me. I'm so happy I found this website and wish everyone the best.

Grandma,

We're glad to be of help...just let us know how we can help you and what questions we can answer. There are lots of women here with great experience ready to share, so we're here for you. Welcome!! We'll keep you, and your step-daughter, in our prayers.

Tifany,

Welcome to you, too! We're glad you found this site, too!!

You are ALLOWED to feel sorry for yourself. Besides, it's not technically "feeling sorry for yourself". It's called healing. When you have a minute, Google the "stages of grief" and you'll see that what you've been through in less than a year is mind-boggling. Really. You haven't given yourself enough time to process - mentally - what's happened, or physically, either. But, that's the life of infertility. That's why people always tell infertiles we're "too sensitive". But, when you're given news that your last try didn't work and two days later you have to start meds for your next try - you're not given time to properly grieve. After miscarriage, the healing time is quite long, but most women in our situaiton aren't given the amount of time necessary to fully recover because we're battling time, our bodies, money for the doctor, etc. so we don't have the time we need to "get over it" and people then begin to think we're "feeling sorry for ourselves". There are some fantastic resources on this site, just up to the left on this page...the links above the "Conception Action Pack" are really wonderful. Here's one I personally found especially helpful:

http://www.shared
journey.com/emot.html

Take
some time to poke around the site and read some of the reference materials...it's so helpful especially when you really need some support. And, heck, always check the boards on this site...there is always someone around to help you when you're feeling low. There are other great boards on the site, so take a minute to see what the other boards have to offer as well. You can post all over the place here and find support, experience and strength to help you make it through this.

As for the bruising, I'd suggest you read back a few pages in this parcitular thread. Lots of discussion about bruising and how to inject. Great tips, too!

I'll close - sorry for the long post...I just wanted to make sure I got all the info to you I had on hand.

I hope you ladies will keep us posted and I wish you each the best of luck in your journey.

Again, welcome.

Hi, I started taking 60mg daily of lovenox about 6 weeks ago when I got a positive pregnany test. I am now 10 weeks pregnant. Everything has been going along pretty well. I had a cervical polyp removed at 5 weeks and recently some light spotting and a tiny clot. I have had 3 ultrasounds done and all showed a great heartbeat. I am still a little nervous about this spotting. I don't know if its the Lovenox and 81mg of aspirin to blame or if there is a problem. I try to stay positive. I have MTHFR with 2 copies of C677T. I have suffered 3 misscarriages, 2 at 5 weeks and 1 at 16 weeks. After my first miscarriage at 5 weeks I got pregnant and delivered a healthy boy. That pregnancy was text book perfect. Then I had the 2 subsequent losses. That is when I learned about the MTHFR. My heart goes out to all of you in this situation. Suffering through infertility and pregnancy loss can be quite devasting. A lot of people don't understand this and we who are going through this tend to suffer in silence. Once we do manage to concieve again, it is racked with doubt and anxiety. My hope is that with treatments like lovenox our dreams of becoming parents again or for the first time will become a reality. I am glad this site will be here as a support during my pregnancy and I hope that I can be of support to others. I will be praying for everyone out there!! Take -care! Debby

Hi. I am new at this and found this website. Gald I foudn it, I didnt' know there were so many woman taking lovenox. Don't feel so alone. I just found out I am pregnant, my 3rd pregnancy on 12/28/06, had two m/c one at 7/8 wks in 2004 than my second at 5/6 wks in 2005. This pregnancy was a total surprise was not trying so I was stunned to see two pos test and a pos doctors test. I have anticardiolipin sydrome which I test for after my 2nd m/c. I started 40mg of Lovenox last night 01/04/07 and my OB also told me to continue the 81mg of asprin everyday. I was really scared to take the shot but it didnt' hurt or burn for I had read stuff about it and was relutant to take it. I have had light brownish discharge since last week that my OB said was ok and nothing to worrying about but now there is none. I guess the lovenox is doing it job. If this goes well this will be my first baby. I am so happy as is my husband. I am due Aug 19, 07 but I am sure that will change as my pregnancy continues. Good Luck.

Claudia
;)

Heathermak- Thank you so much for understanding and for all the information. I'm feeling much better now.

Claudia- Congrats on your pregnancy. I can understand completely why you are scared. My thoughts are with you and your baby.

Gidd - January 6th, 2007 1:22 AM

Well we reached the half way mark today, and things are going well. Our last appointment 2 weeks back we found out we are having a girl. Or so they are 99% sure of ;). The road has been a rough one, of course the shots still hurt and burn and she dreads them every day, but I know she feels that its a fair price to pay for a miracle like this. I feel the same way, I try to balance the fact that although it hurts me to give them to her, I'm saving the life of my wife while she grows the life inside her. At least I can be a part in that way.

All the pain, and all the work that goes into these 9 months will be forgotten and replaced 100 times over with love and happiness when the baby comes.

there has got to be a reason why someone is on 2xs a day vs 1 x per day. i'm only doing 1 x- b/c after all the testing i did i really have no solid proof i should even be on it--- but my pregnancy is sustaining so i'll continue it. i think the 40 mg is the lowest dosage if you don't have any certain issues maybe.
i agree- sometimes the shots are painless & sometimes they do hurt. but it lasts 5 seconds so i guess i will deal with it too.
The reason the dosages of lovenox are different for different people are a couple of different things. One reason is the amount is often times based on your weight. 1 mg per kg of body weight. Also it depends on the level of your blood clotting issues. A low risk person will get a much lower dose then an individual who is at far greater risk of complications. The doses range from prophylactic to therapuetic. Hope that helped a little. Debby

billybobtaters - January 7th, 2007 12:22 AM

My wife is 11 weeks today and was told to start Lovenox 40mg SQ daily tomorrow after CBC drawn today. I am a nurse and have given Lovenox on numerous occasions but never to a pregnant patient. Any tips on injection to make easier for needle phobic patient. Nurse at OB office told to avoid 0300 and 0900 across navel which is common for all patients but any specifics for pregnant patients or websites that would help.

Thanks,

concerned husband

Bridget - January 7th, 2007 3:18 PM

billybobtaters,

Why avoid the 0300 and 0900?? Never heard of that and am curious as to why...

Congrats to the new people who just posted!! I am new to this board as well and have found it be a big comfort. I miscarried three times within the last twelve months and so far with this pregnancy so good! I am now 15 weeks and have been on Lovenox for about two weeks now (once daily 40 mg). Prior to the Lovenox I was on Heparin (twice daily shots) and have to say that I much prefer the Lovenox. I like that the needles are pre-loaded, the Heparin wasn't and it made for a longer more drawn out injection emotionally.

To anyone that has been on Lovenox and is past the 28 week mark or have delivered --- my ob/gyn will be doing a bio-physical profile on the baby in weeks 24, 25, 26, 27 and 28. Meaning a full blown ultrasound weekly. Anyone else ever do this? She said it was because of the Lovenox.

Thanks for any responses I get!!

Bridget

Jean42506 - January 7th, 2007 8:45 PM

Bridget-
I am having a biophysical ultrasound every 4 weeks starting at 20 weeks. I'm 24 weeks so have had 2 of them. They are awesome. Very clear and easy to see the images. My understanding is that it is done in order to check the growth of the baby and to make sure that the placenta is healthy.

Billybobtaters-
Yes please explain why to avoid the 3 and 9 area. I have recently started giving them in this area because it hurts less and never bruises. Is there something that I should know about and stop using that area?

Claudia1275 - January 8th, 2007 7:50 PM
Has anyone had problems with brusing on one side from injections. I am only getting bursing on my right side and not my left? Its looks awful, worried. Also, I have like no morning sickness, is this a bad or good sign? I am just worried for I read that the more sicknesss you have the better your pregnancy will be successful and I only had it like 3 times but than I had the flu and now over the flu and the m/S has stopped.

Tiffany,
Hi. Thanks for the good thought. So far so good, 7 weeks yesterday. I called a nurse at my ob for I have bursing on my right side only but not on my left. It looks awful, big and black. The two bruises have like joined togehter. Have you or anyone else have that problem from Lovenox?

Thank you for your responce Tiffany.

Miicki - January 9th, 2007 11:00 AM

I have never heard of the biophysical ultrasound-i'm at 22 weeks & no one has mentioned this to me at my Dr's office.
Jean- is there a specific reason why you need this?
I had my big ultrasound at 19 weeks and everything looked fine.
Should i ask about this?

Claudia1275 - January 9th, 2007 5:41 PM

HI Everyone. 7 wks pregnant and stated taking 40mg of lovenox since 6 wks and 81mg of baby asprin daily. Question, is it normal to have no morning sickness. I am worried, I have only had it two day but I had the flu and not is gone. I get queaky to my stomach but that is all. The neasous feeling can last all day, sometimes starting at midnight till the morning, some days I have none. I just want to be sure this is normal. My 3rd pregnancy, 2 previous m/c's. Does the lovenox have something to do with it?

Thanks, Claudia
