Mellisa, I am so happy for you and I wish you the best with your baby boy. Hopefully my little boy will be born by the end of this week. How was the whole indcution thing? I think I am seriously going crazy, I am supposed to be induced tomorrow night but I have to wait for the hospital to call me!!! I could just fall over with all of this waiting! >:( I just want him here, and I am sure all of you know the feeling. Last week when I went to the doctor, I was still dialated only 1cm so no progress :-[.
Any who, I am sure you have your hand full with the new addition. I look forward to hearing from you.

Also, Karrot, I am very excited for you too. All seems normal and I think it will work out this time. I will keep you all updated.

Till Next Time:....

PS: My doctor told me that he was going to put me on coumadin after the baby and that there was no health risks, even though I plan on breast feeding? I thought coumadin and breastfeeding was a no no?!?!? ???

Hi lili246!
I posted a few days ago about being on Lovenox and baby aspirin after 2 second and 1 first trimester losses. I'll be 13 weeks on Friday and all is seemlingly going well so far. Did you go through a pregnancy on lovenox and baby aspirin? How did it work for you? I would love to talk to someone else who knows what's going on with all of this :) Thank you!

Sam76 - October 9th, 2008 2:58 PM

Hi Saram. I am new to this website, but would really like to have a buddy to talk with. I am almost 15 weeks and have been taking lovenox shots for 3 weeks. I had a doctor's appointment yesterday to go over my lab work. I have been diagnosed with factor V Leiden and MTHFR. I knew something was wrong due to the fact I had a DVT 3 weeks after my first born. I'm feeling a litttle overwhelmed.

saram1 - October 9th, 2008 4:08 PM

Hi Sam76!
I know all about feeling overwhelmed! I have a 4 year old son and after having him had two second trimester miscarriages and one first trimester m/c. Following the second m/c I was diagnosed with MTHFR and Factor V Leiden; same as you. I started the lovenox shots at 4 weeks this time and am now 13 weeks along. A buddy sounds great so please feel free to e-mail me directly at sarasmile0423@yahoo.com if you'd like. Best of luck...look forward to hearing from you!

Saram1,

It is nice to know that I can speak with someone else who understands what I am going thru. I have great friends and my husband is wonderful, but they just don't understand. My doctor suggested that both of my parents get tested due to Factor V Leiden and MTHFR are genetic. Did your parents get tested after you were diagnosed? Also were you on lovenox when you had your third m/c.

I hope you have a great weekend. Good luck in this pregnancy. Talk to you soon.

saram1 - October 10th, 2008 4:21 PM

Sam76,

It is easier talking to someone who can sympathize with this particular situation. It's stressful enough going through a pregnancy without the added joy of daily injections! :) After I was diagnosed both my RE and hemotologist suggested that my brother be tested but not my parents. Now that I think about it I'm note sure why they didn't suggest my parents be tested. I might want to suggest that they do, though...
I was on lovenox when I had my third m/c but only for about a week. In both of the prior pregnancies I carried the baby through to the second trimester with no medication at all and the third only made it to 6 1/2 weeks. The heartbeat they detected at the 6 week ultrasound was low and they felt that that pregnancy was just one that wouldn't have made it with or without the lovenox. They felt it may not have been viable and may have had nothing to due with my condition.
I rented a home doppler with this one and have found it comforting to listen to the heartbeat whenever I need some reassurance. Do you have one or have thought about renting one? Also, does your Dr. have you on extra folic acid?
Hope you have a great weekend, too! Talk to you soon...

Hi guys, I am new to this sight. I am so glad i stumbled upon it. I am 27 weeks pregnant and on Lovenox 100 mg daily and a baby aspirin, as well as meds for preterm labor...more on that later.
A little history: I have a 15 year old daughter born on her due date no problems. I have a 4 year old daughter, during that pregnancy I had a blood clot at 9 wks, dignosed with Factor V, put on Lovenov 100 2x daily, preterm labor at 24 weeks, pre-eclampsia at 30 wks, had to deliver 3 1/2 pounds-rough start but she is doing great. I was induced and had her vaginal/natural due to Lovenox no epidural...not fun. This time I am on blood pressure meds and started preterm at 17 weeks. Currently I am on bed rest and seeing a maternal fetal specialist monthly and my doctor every 2 weeks as well as hydroxyprogesterone shots wkly for preterm.
It is nice to know others can relate to those icky lovenox shots, although you get used to it, there are days that I am just tired of it and the bruises/knots. I know it is all worth it, for a healthy baby. My due date is January 11, but will be induced before Christmas if I make it that far. Odds are I will develop pre-eclampsia again.
I learned during the last pregnancy that a good maternal fetal specialist who understands thrombophilia disorders is the best friend we can have during a pregnancy. He is the one that added the aspirin..He said the lovenox protects me the aspirin crosses the placenta and protects the baby!!
Take care you are all in my prayers.
Celi

Hello everyone! Just a quick update. We casme home from the hospital today with our new baby boy. He weighed 5 lbs 14 oz. and he is such a blessing. All is well, breast feeding is at a stand still until my milk comes in, which is taking froever, so I will keep you all updated.
Mellisa, I hope everything is doing good with you and baby. My doc swtiched me back to coumadin but did not send me home with any. Maybe it is because he wants me to see the hematogolist.

karrot305 - October 16th, 2008 10:44 AM

hi girls- got back from vegas on monday- nice little trip, but the weather was freakishly cold and I would have loved to lay out by the pool more! we did though come back with slightly more money than we left with.
so Im going on 9 weeks now and am starting to really feel like crap- other pgs I wasnt as sick in the morning, but now I am for sure! so hopefully Ill just struggle through the next month then be fine. my next OB appt isnt until oct 30th. they let me go 4 weeks this time- longer than they ever did before with my last pg- so im kinda nervous.
sam and saram- last year when they found i had factor V and protein S they suggested my family get tested OR just start aspirin therapy. my mom's dr just told her it wasnt worth the cost of the blood tests b/c she was over 50 and should be on aspirin anyways. they wouldnt put her on anything else anyways unless she had an actual clot. my sister did get tested though before she got pregnant and luckily has no problems- shes terrified of needles and theres no way she could do the lovenox like me. I also get nervous about testing my kids and stuff til later b/c it can really affect the ability to get health/life/disability insurance. luckily i got most of what I needed after my first mc but before they found the clotting disorders. so i get worried about other people uneccessarily having it in their records if they could just be protecting themselves with cheap baby aspirin. ugh- so hard to know what to do!
take care everyone!
