Hey Jena,

I've never been pg, we've been married 18 yrs. TTC most of that time. Didn't actually start the process until this last year. My DH has some sort of sperm delivery issue and we need to collect surgically from him hence we moved straight into IVF. I really waited as long as I felt I could because I really wanted to do IUI with donor sperm, and had felt somewhat unsure of if I really wanted to go thru so much to have kids.

Anyway, since we've started it seems like my holding out has caused us additional issues. I'm now 42 and my RE seems more concerned about my age than the rest of it. Have had two cycles so far that haven't even gotten to the trigger shot. The first one, I developed a cyst from the bcp and they had to go in and aspirate it. The second one, my RE wanted to go straight to the antigon protocol due to my age and because she had had good luck with it recently. Well the antigon actually knocked my estrogen down and we had to stop basically the day I would have gotten the trigger.

This month the IVF center is retooling so it will be my next cycle when we start up again (right around xmas). My RE suggested we do Lupron with the possibility of a donor egg as well. We're not going to do donor egg. If this time doesn't work, we will move on to adoption.

Anyway, baby dust to all.

Hie jena
Me too never pregnant in 8 years of trying,
I got married in 1999 december it was nealy 2ooo
since, we tryd for 2 years but no result ,so me and my husband decided to check at the docs whent through so many difficult test but the end was unexplaind infertillity
the doc advised us to waite since i was very young and for the guys its not very till there in there 50s to 60s
so we tryd anothere 3 to 4 years no result, then my mum insisted me to come to london for another internal chec up , the docter system in oslo is not very known but uk us and germany r known quite well, so i got my self checkked again there over a year but ths time i agreed to go for a day surgery as batanio mentiond before (lyproscopy) they did not found any thing but my day surgery turned in to a overnight surgery because it got a bit out of hand i was not feeling well then 3 days after i started bleeding did not know where the blood came from either the stiches or the belly button, I travell nealy everyday in amergency wards, but then i found out while stiching me they left a old blood clot under the stiches whitch brussed me and started to bleed through my belly butten the hospital did not understand what is happening but then one day i rang my speacalist and she told me its good that the clot should bleed out its not normal because it deos not happen with every one but it was bad luck, then they desided to try iui 3 faild and know am in oslo trying ivf after a year,
i hope that did not every one after all ths am realy tired and hope it works this time . i ve been havibg a bitt of whitte discharge like before i ovulate, i hope its not that

Wow.. thank you all for responding. Just reading I am noticing something all of us are "unexplained" I guess when they know what the problem is then they know what treatment to give. we are all like a guessing game.. are u all doing iui? clomid? trigger shot? or have u guys already moved to ivf?

Never been pregnant!
Me and my husband have been together for 7 years... We have been trying to get pregnant for ages. A few months back i went to the hospital to see a fertility specialist who recomended a laproscopy procedure to check for blockage in my fallopian tubes and remove a fibroid tumor. I had the procedure done and he told me i could never get pregnant naturally due to severe blockage and scaring. He told me to have my fallopian tubes removed in order to start IVF. He said that my left fallopian tube was the worst and he would remove that one and try to fix the right one which will give me a 5% chance at getting pregnant. Im extremely doubtfull and scared. I don't know what to do... I wonder about doing an HSG but i don't know if that will be any good. A little advice will be well appreciated.

Greeneyes, you get HSG to check for blockage in tubes...if your tubes are being removed, no need to get HSG...they already know you have problem w. tubes.

Nareen, have you looked into assisted hatching? you shoudl ask your MD about that. Infact, they shoudl KNOW and recommend to you. If they don't move/switch practices

nareen - April 24th, 2008 12:51 PM

Never been pregnant either. 34yo. 6 fresh IVfs, 1 fresh donor egg cycle. 2 DE FET. The docs think my egg quality is the issue (compacted morulas/early blast on day 5 transfer) and maybe the donor just had a bad cycle. All tests come back normal including lap & hsg. I guess am also diagnosed as "unexplained". I was planning on trying another IVF cycle but havent figured out the financing so I opted to do an IUI this month. My new RE put me on metformin because my b/w looked like a PCOS pateint a couple of times in the past; even though he doesnt think I have PCOS (normal period, no cycts, thin, etc) . Has anyone with "unexplained" had sucess with metformin? I was inseminated on Wednesday and now on the 2ww.
I wish you all lots & lots of babydust. Thank you for sharing and thank you for listening. bmm

nareen - April 28th, 2008 1:35 PM

hi BMM.
Thanke you and yes i,m planing to try again but don,t know when, thinking about doing immune testing for antibodies and also try a few month of massage and hope and pray i get pg when i try again.
lots of well luck and well wishes
Nareen

bmm - May 2nd, 2008 4:49 PM

Hi nareen,
The testing and massage sound like a great idea. I recently did the immune panel....I tested + for heterzygous 4g5g allele (a marker for blood clots) The docs say its not the reason for my 'egg quality'; But once pregnant would see a hematologist to see if I need to be put on blood thinners. In the meantime, I am trying to stay present & enjoy each day.
I wish you the very best. Enjoy the massages:)
Much Babydust, bmm

nareen - May 19th, 2008 8:25 AM

Hi Bmm
How you doing, hope everything is going great with you. Talk to my Doc. about immune testing and he say sometimes the test does show anything as if it,s not my decision but will talk to him again and if he refused think i will find another clinic, because it should be about what i want i,m the one going thruogh all the failed cycle. Anyway hope i god will bless us with one of his angel soon.
oh the massage is great
Lots of Luck and well wishes Nareen

Teanque - May 19th, 2008 12:02 PM

Hi all,
I have been pregnant 1 known time (15 yrs ago, when I was 18), and a possible 2 other times. Been TTC with my husband for almost 8 yrs. He has 5 kids of his own (which makes it a little harder for me...all these kids and none are mine)

All ultrasounds, blood tests, and my HSG came back normal, except for low hormone levels. His sperm analysis came back great. Doctor recommended taking Femara and Ovidrel to get me ovulating, then it is on to normal sex for insemination :) He said in his opinion, we have about an 80% chance of it working the first time around. So, fingers crossed...but keeping hopes down so we dont end up crushed by that 20%.

After being prescribed all the drugs, and taking all my tests, insurance decided..ooops we dont wanna pay for that stuf after all (kinda BS since I called them for confirmation before I even had my first appt. and they said it was all covered) so we are doing the pills and shot on our own, with the aid of a fertility nurse (friend of a friend) to keep an eye on me.....within a month I should know if it worked (right?)
