Dr. Smith,

How likely is it that my husband's bad SA is caused by Y-chromosome abnormalities (or any other genetic abnormalities that can be passed on to male offspring when ICSI is used)?

His count has ranged from 3 to 18 million/ml (on 3 different occasions).
Strict morphology (Kruger) only 1-2% normal; with acrosome deficiencies, coiled tails, and decreased motility.

Micro-deletions in the Y chromosome usually cause severe oligozoospermia (low sperm concentration). Although your husband's concentration is on the low side, it is not severe. Accordingly, it is probably not a result of a Y chromosome micro-deletion. Its simply enough to find out with a blood test. If you are concerned, ask your doctor to order the test.
