On average, how many of embryos that have made it to Day2 make it to Day 5? Is this average very different for infertility patients versus for donors? Does there tend to be a lot of variation from the norm?

Thanks

Blastocyst development rate for different age goups (Blastocysts per Day 1(2) embryos):

Donors 20-28; about 60%
Patients <30; about 50%
Patients 30-35; about 40%
Patients 35-40; about 30%
Patients 40-42; about 20%
Patients >42; anyone's guess

There is variation in the blastocyst development rate in donors (0-90%). The rate depends heavily on the quality of sperm used. It usually averages out at about 60%.
