Hello, I'm sorry for your miscarriage! As there were no genetic abnormalities there are other factors that should be evaluated prior to your next ET. One of these is the "autoimmune factor". We have many patients who present to us with a history of recurrent pregnancy loss; each successive loss is earlier than the previous one. I understand that you have not had recurrent loss and I would not want to wait to see if this occurs.A loss at 12 weeks is suggestive of an immune problem: the uterus rejecting someting which is "not self". These problems persist regardless of the source of the eggs. We would test our patients for antiphospolipid antibodies, natural killer cells, and thrombophilic (clotting) factors. We would treat accordingly at the time of ET if any of these problems exist. In fact, this is routine for us when we are using donor eggs. We want to understand as much as we can and "control" as much as we can prior to transferring embryos generated from donated eggs! Best of luck, Dr. Miller
