Opinions are like noses - everybody has one. Testing for NK cells is driven by opinion, not fact-based medicine and that's because it is a relatively new concept to most RE's (although its been around for several years). There are valid argumets on both sides of this issue. My personal opinion is that the NK story has merit as we have been able to help many women with recurrent miscarriage by treatment with IVIg. It is more accepted than your doc thinks. There is a recent acute shortage of IVIg in the US. Wonder why... Many RE's are keeping there treament with IVIg under wraps for fear of being the target of more outspoken critics such as your RE. Unfortunate, but true. If you decide testing for NK cells is important to you, seek out another RE willing to test you. If there is a problem with the NK cells (abnormal number of activation), stick with the second doc. If there is no problem, you could return to the first doc, if your are more comfortable with her.
