The percentage of embryos that survive the thaw is dependent on the initial quality of the embryos that were frozen. If the lab is indiscriminant in the quality of the embryos they freeze (and many unsuitable embryos are frozen), then it is common for a significant porportion of the embryos not to survive the thawing process. Alternatively, labs that are highly discriminant have a much better post that survival rate. In either case, the porportion of embryos that do not survive the thaw does not significantly affect the developmental potential of the embryos that do survive the thaw. In a sense, low quality embryos have been "weeded out" by the freeze-thaw process.
